¡¡¡¡Aug. 20th, "Mulan" - the ocean-river multipurpose vessel - has departed from Fuyuan Port, Harbin, heading towards China's southeastern coastal areas by way of Russian waters. This voyage has started China's first cross-border transport of internal trade goods.
¡¡¡¡It is reported that this maiden voyage is going through Russian ports of Nikolayev, Tatar Strait, the Sea of Japan, the East China Sea, and finally will arrive in Shantou Port in Guangdong.
¡¡¡¡According to Qu Bin, Deputy General Manager of Heilongjiang Provincial Shipping Group, this first ever cross-border transport not only has opened up a "golden waterway" for the typical inland province of Heilongjiang, but also has lowered transport costs for local enterprises as well as shorten the transport cycle.
¡¡¡¡It used to taken approx. 2 months for the overweight large-scale equipments to be transported by road, while the new ocean-river intermodal transport only costs about one month, with only 70% of the freight of road transport. |
